Larry Ceplair

Larry Ceplair, retired history professor and accomplished author, is one such authority on the screenwriters and the challenges they have faced. Drawing from his research and expertise on the motion picture industry, specifically the difficulty screenwriters faced during the House of Un-American Activities (HUAC) era, Ceplair is able to give a unique perspective on the conflicts these screenwriters are facing today by looking at the problems they encountered in the past.

Ceplair is a former professor of history at Santa Monica University and author or coauthor of six books, including, The Inquisition in Hollywood: Politics in the Film Community, 1930-60 and A Great Lady: A Life of the Screenwriter Sonya Levien. His latest book, The Marxist and the Movies: A Biography of Paul Jarrico, was released in October 2007. To schedule an interview with Ceplair, please contact Mack McCormick at 859-257-5200 or permissions@uky.edu
