James J. Hentz
Area of expertise: Foreign Policy
James J. Hentz is an associate professor in the Department of International
Studies at the Virginia Military Institute. He received his B.A. in international
relations from Saint Joseph's College in 1978, his M.A. in international relations
from Georgetown University in 1983, and his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania
in 1996. He teaches national security, international relations and African political
and economic development, with a specialty in southern Africa. In 1993/4 he
was a visiting scholar at Rand Afrikaans University in Johannesburg and in 2003
a Fulbright Scholar at Miklos Zrinyi National Defense University, Budapest.
He has taught full time at the University of Pennsylvania and Dartmouth College.
He has also contributed numerous articles to journals and edited volumes.
