at Penn State University Harrisburg, is the author and editor of numerous books
and articles on material culture, folklore, and American Studies. His books
include Following Tradition: Folklore in the Discourse of American Culture, The Carver's Art, Grasping Things,
and Lafcadio Hearn's
America.
