WITNESSES TO THE CIVIL WAR

Series Editor: Kent Masterson Brown, attorney in Lexington, Kentucky and Civil War Scholar

Witnesses to the Civil War is a series of new scholarly books that are based upon original research, utilizing the vast array of extant diaries, letter collections, and reminiscences of participants in the Civil War, civilian and military, together with the wealth of archival records of civilian, governmental, and military organizations. The series is designed to publish narrative histories of units, armies, departments, geographical regions, military operations, and the home front, as well as biographies, that offer new insights and fresh appraisals of the Civil War and of those who lived during the nation's most cataclysmic, yet defining epoch.
