The Women of Appalachia Project is excited to begin its 16th season with a virtual (online) reading from “Women Speak, Volume Ten” on the evening of February 12 at 7PM EST. Readers for this event include: Jacinda Townsend, Connie Green, Monic Ductan (author of DAUGHTERS OF MUSCADINE), Pauletta Hansel, Lisa Kwong, Karen Salyer McElmurray (author of I COULD NAME GOD IN TWELVE WAYS and WANTING RADIANCE), Ali O’Rourke, Alexis Nichols, Barbara Marie Minney, Beth Copeland, Elaine Palencia, Jennifer Schomburg Kanke, Kristi Stephens Walker, E. J. Wade, Laura Grace Weldon, Marjorie Maddox, Mary Lucille DeBerry, Sara Pisak, Sheila Carter-Jones, Tess Lloyd (coeditor of WRITING APPALACHIA) and Kari Gunter-Seymour.
The Women of Appalachia Project was created to address discrimination directed at women from the Appalachian region by encouraging participation from women artists of diverse backgrounds, ages and experiences to come together, to embrace the stereotype, to show the whole woman; beyond the superficial factors that people use to judge her.
